Workforce Readiness: Students Prepared for College/Career

Measurement Period: 2023
Percent of high school graduates who are prepared for college or a career, as per the California Department of Education (CDE). Only high school graduates can be classified as prepared or approaching prepared. Students are considered prepared if they meet one of the following criteria: Score of Level 3 “Standard Met” or higher on both English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics, Score of 3 or higher on two AP exams, Score of 4 or higher on two IB exams, Two semesters or three quarters of college coursework with a grade of C- or better in academic/CTE subjects where college credit is awarded, Complete a-g course requirements with a grade of C- or better plus one of the Additional Criteria from the box below, Pathway completion with a grade of C- better in the capstone course plus one of the Additional Criteria from the box below. Why is this important?

College or career readiness involves graduating high school students' completion of rigorous coursework, passing challenging exams, or receiving a state seal, and is considered an indicator of preparedness for education/employment after high school.
